Orthodontic Evaluation

Your First Visit

We’re excited to welcome you and your child to our practice! The initial orthodontic consultation is a great opportunity for you to meet our team and share your goals for treatment. During this visit, the orthodontist will perform a comprehensive clinical evaluation and, if your child is ready to begin treatment, we may take diagnostic records. These may include X-rays, photographs, and a 3D digital scan of the teeth to assist in developing a personalized treatment plan.

Early “Phase I” Orthodontic Treatment

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children have their first orthodontic check-up by age 7. This early evaluation helps us assess your child’s growth and development and determine whether Phase I (early) treatment could be beneficial. Phase I treatment typically occurs between ages 7 and 9, while baby teeth are still present. When needed, early intervention can help guide the eruption of permanent teeth and influence jaw development—setting the stage for more efficient treatment later. If two-phase treatment is recommended, it ensures the most effective timing for optimal results as your child grows.

Our practice is proud to offer both pediatric dentistry and orthodontics under one roof. This integrated approach allows for ongoing monitoring and convenient, coordinated care—whether your child begins treatment right away or simply needs periodic observation. Scheduling orthodontic appointments alongside routine dental visits helps simplify your family’s schedule while ensuring the best timing for care.

Comprehensive “Phase II” Orthodontic Treatment

When all permanent teeth have erupted, your child will be ready for a full orthodontic evaluation. Phase II treatment addresses tooth alignment, bite correction, and overall jaw and facial balance. At Bright Healthy Smiles, we offer a wide range of options, including metal braces, ceramic braces, Invisalign, and functional appliances. Together, we’ll design a custom treatment plan that suits your child’s needs and helps them achieve a confident, healthy smile.

Space Maintainers

If a baby tooth is lost too early, space maintainers may be recommended. These appliances help preserve the gap needed for the future eruption of permanent teeth, preventing alignment issues down the line. Our orthodontist will assess your child’s needs and determine whether a space maintainer is appropriate to support proper dental development.

Orthodontic Treatment for Adults

Orthodontics isn’t just for kids—we proudly offer treatment for adults as well! Many parents of our younger patients choose to begin their own orthodontic journey with us. We make it easy to schedule appointments for both parents and children on the same day, making treatment convenient for the whole family.
