Dental Sealants
Dental sealants are thin, protective coatings applied to the grooves of the back teeth—one of the places where cavities are most likely to form. They act as a barrier, helping to keep food particles and bacteria out of these hard-to-clean areas. When paired with good brushing habits and routine dental visits, sealants offer an added layer of defense against tooth decay.
At our office, we use only BPA-free, biocompatible materials that are safe for your child’s mouth. Thanks to advances in dental technology, today’s sealants not only protect the teeth but can also release fluoride to further strengthen the enamel.
We carefully choose between resin-based sealants and glass ionomer sealants based on your child’s specific tooth anatomy. A key part of successful sealant placement is keeping the area dry during application. If full isolation isn’t possible, we’ll opt for a moisture-tolerant material to ensure the best result while keeping the experience stress-free for your child.
